A one, a two, a one two three!

Let's dance! Unusual statue in Pergamum Museum

Exploration of ruined cities (Roman, Greek and Lycean), visiting historical monuments and walking the galleries of archaeological museums are all great, but sooner or later there comes a day when all you wanna do is have fun!

So here we are: Eating the breeze high above Oludeniz on the Turkish Mediterranean coast.

BabaDag (Father Mountain) tops out at 1975m and we've just spent 45 minutes in a jeep doing the the low gear bump and grind to the summit ridge. Below us the sinous, island garlanded and canyon-riven coastline lies at the foot of the pine and olive treed hills that our mountain rears above.

Tioman Island: Making Tracks

Us and them!

Tioman beach tracks at sunset

If all's gone well, by now our track has brought us to Istanbul and we're recovering from twenty eight hours of air travel. Our pace has been fairly leisurely of late, but all that's about to change - the Turkey itinerary's hectic!

Oh. In case you're wondering what kind of critter made those tracks on Tioman's Air Batang Beach, it was one of these guys. A much bigger one obviously, because at about 30cm from nose to tail, this is just a baby. One that needs to stay well away from his parents!

At work on Tioman Island, Malaysia

Tioman: Time to hang up the work gear

It's time to hang up the work clothes. No - seriously!

For the last six weeks, Amber's spent most days sitting in front of a computer churning out code, problem solving and fine tuning for the good folks back home. When she hasn't been doing that, she's been thinking about it. The job's finally done though and now we're looking forward to a holiday.

Snorkelling Hatta magic

There's not much to say about Hatta. No guesthouses, no shops, no nightlife.

Spice Islands III

Pulau Ai's a beauty. Unlike Banda Neira, the only boat you need is the one to get you there. After that it's snorkel and dive heaven right off the beach. Nice and quiet too - we only saw two motor bikes in the ten days we were there.
